Christian Petrus Strauss, commonly known as Tiaan Strauss has the unique distinction of representing the South African Springboks and Australian Wallabies in rugby union and the South African Rhinos in rugby league
He also played top level rugby league for the Cronulla Sharks in Australian during the 1996 and 1997 seasons
Strauss moved to the Cronulla Sharks from Western province rugby where he forged a reputation as a hard running prop/second row
His transition to rugby league was a smooth one and was quite impressive as this was achieved in the engine room of the forwards
In two seasons with the Cronulla Sharks, Tiaan Strauss was known as a no nonsense forward and a tireless worker
In 1997 , Strauss captained the South African Rhinos in the World Nines in Townsville , Australia
The Rhinos were tagged as the surprise package of the competition causing a few upsets
After his stint in rugby league ,Strauss signed a contract with the NSW Waratahs in rugby union and went on to represent the Wallabies
He was a member of the Wallabies World cup winning side in 1999.
After a glittering career in Rugby union and rugby league , Strauss returned to South Africa with his family
