SOUTH AFRICAN RUGBY LEAGUE LOOKING FOR APPLICANTS FOR HEAD COACHING POSITIONS

South African Rugby League today announced a call for applications for the roles of senior head coach and junior head coach for the South African Rugby League National Teams, known as the Rhino’s.

Dr Frans Erasmus, President of SARL, was very positive: This important step is a step in the right direction for rugby league in South Africa. The national team will play in a World Cup Qualifier in Australia at the end of the year and the Under 19’s have an opportunity to play in the European Championships in 2026. SARL has made changes to our structures to ensure that we give our players and teams the best possible opportunities to perform at their best in these tournaments.

Just recently a Coaching Commission was created to drive coaching development for local coaches, and already we’ve had a high performance coach from Australia here, and SARL have started the IRL Coaching Pathway with local coaches starting their Level 1 and Level 2 courses earlier in the year.”

We now need to appoint the right coaches to take charge of the teams, and with their respective management teams start preparing for these important competitions.
